The beginning was the Word and the Word spoke by Pastor Melissa Scott

Scripture must confirm itself. You cannot take this as a doctrine to confuse people. “Well we’re saved by grace through faith, not of works lest any man should boast, but now I’m going to tell you…” Do you think Paul was that confused? “Now I’m going to tell you, you were created for this to go out and do good works.” Something very subtle being said. Faith is the element. Faith is what God – God starts on that where we are. The Bible is as crystal clear as can be: by grace, through faith. Now, verse 10, “we are His workmanship.” I put the verse up here. I’m going to do this quickly because I’m going somewhere else.

Pastor Melissa Scott tells us that this possessive pronoun, “His” autou “His. This makes it genitive: His. Isn’t it striking that this verse – of course he wrote a letter. He didn’t write chapter and verse, but it starts off with, the Greek always puts the first thing at the front. This is what our attention should be drawn to. “His” gar “for” esmen “we are” poiema we get our English word “poem” from this word poiema. Now that’s not bad. That’s not bad to say, “We are His poem.” But considering God’s the greatest wordsmith that ever lived and in the beginning was the Word and the Word spoke.
